Beyond Meat - A Better Way to Feed the Planet
Twitter co-founder Biz Stone explains why he is investing in plant-based meat alternatives - for better human health.
"There are increasing studies showing us that due to the consumption of certain animal protein, heart disease increases like 21% and diabetes increases by 27% percent. There's also a lot of studies that are showing a more plant based diet is better for you and more healthy than eating too much animal meat. At Twitter we care a lot about human health. When you have to feed thirteen hundred fifteen hundred people who work at Twitter, we provide healthy options. For example, we offer an array of vegetarian food, vegan food, salads. I find that a lot of people who aren't vegans eat the vegan food cos it's delicious. There's a lot of side benefits to offering food to employees. For one, when you offer food they tend not to go out to lunch and that just makes it a lot easier to keep people healthy at work. What we are trying to do is to make it easier for them to make the right decision."
